Flora Ugwunwa wins Silver in Javelin
Nigeria’s Flora Ugwunwa has secured a Silver medal in the Women’s Javelin F54.
With a throw of 19.26m, finishing 2nd at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris, Ugwunwa’s feat has made Nigeria rake in the first medal in women’s Javelin category, with a total medal of four so far.
She placed behind Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova, who claimed the gold medal with a throw of 21.12m. Iran’s Elham Salehi took the Bronze, recording a distance of 16.24m.
40 years old, Ugwunwa has now won three consecutive Paralympic medals, two golds (Rio, Tokyo) and now one Silver (Paris).
Onyinyechi Mark, Eniola Bolaji and Esther Nworgu have also won medals for Team Nigeria.
