Governor Adeleke, Women Affairs Minister strengthen ties on Women empowerment

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has announced plans for collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs to establish a mobile court aimed at expediting justice concerning harmful practices and other social vices against Nigerian women and girls.

This initiative was unveiled during a meeting in Abuja with the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye.

Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing the welfare of women and youths, recognizing the pivotal role women play in national development.

He stated that in the spirit of Lent, Easter and Ramadan period, he had directed his Commissioner for Justice to prepare an executive order to free all unjustly incarcerated women in the state.

Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye revealed that Osun State is among those slated to receive industrial machines and modernized farming equipment in the next batch, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to bolster agri-business and empower women sustainably.

She expressed gratitude to the Governor for endorsing a partnership with the Ministry, particularly in training women on skill acquisition, notably in local fabric production.

Furthermore, the Minister urged the integration of women from Osun State into the recently launched E-market portal by the Ministry. This platform serves as a one-stop-shop for online business ventures, aiming to enhance the socio-economic status of women in the state.
