Mr Eazi To Launch Foundation For Emerging African Artists

It looks like Nigerian popstars are finally ready to help upcoming artists in other ways besides starting a ton of record labels. Just last week, Davido spoke about his plans to empower the next generation of emerging African artists, and now, Mr Eazi has made a similar announcement.

The afropop star, who’s been having a pretty solid year so far, took to social media to tease the launch of the Eazi Sound Foundation — a body designed to help other up-and-coming African artists rise in the industry the same way he has.

According to Mr Eazi, $100,000 (N36,000,000) has already been set aside for the artists, and the main criteria the artists will have to meet to be eligible for assistance from the foundation is that they must be registered to vote in their country.

Considering this announcement was followed with a picture of the “London Town” singer registering to get his PVC, there’s clearly a politics-related endgame in sight — one that will become clearer with time. Anyway, the Eazi Sound Foundation is set to launch on August 1.
