Watch The Fabulously Vibrant Video For Omawumi & Kizz Daniel’s Single, ‘Me Ke’

With the success of DJ Spinall and Kizz Daniel’s latest single, “Baba”, it’s easy to forget that only a couple months ago, the afropop superstar landed one of the strongest features of his career with Omawumi‘s exceptional “Me Ke”.

Well, thanks to the recent release of a video that’s just as stunning as the track itself, we expect a lot more people to remember — and for those who hadn’t heard it until now, discover — just how fantastic the song and collaboration are.

On Omawumi’s most recent album, Timeless, her Jazz-flecked remake of Fela Kuti’s “Ololufe”showed us just how much she’s inspired by the late afrobeat pioneer, and the energetic “Me Ke” finds her successfully channeling his musicality once again.

The track is a defiant anthem that finds Omawumi confidently telling off her haters. “Some people say ‘she no dey reign again’, same people go change their mouth again”, she sings on the first verse. Kizz Daniel joins in on the second verse and echoes similar sentiments.

Just like the song, the gorgeous Unlimited LA-directed video is clearly inspired by Fela — with Omawumi’s dancers all dressed up to look like his famous Kalakuta queens. “Me Ke” is the first single off Omawumi’s upcoming EP, and we really can’t wait to see what she does next.
