Read About A Mother’s Journey to Loving and Raising a Son with Cerebral Palsy

When it was time for Folashade Fadugba to have her 36-weeks old baby, she went into labour for 12 hours but when there was no sign of the baby, a C-section was carried out.

When her baby boy came, he did not cry. Thankfully, he was revived by the doctors. Her baby, who weighed 5.5kg suddenly shrunk to 2.2kg and then, she knew something was wrong.

On getting to the doctor, she was told that her son had Cerebral Palsy. As expected, she was shattered at the news.

According to KidsHealth, Cerebral Palsy is a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement, and motor skills (the ability to move in a coordinated and purposeful way).

It is usually caused by brain damage that happens before or during a baby’s birth, or during the first 3 to 5 years of a child’s life. There is no cure for CP, but treatment, therapy, special equipment, and, in some cases, surgery can help kids who are living with the condition.
