Fan Art Imagines John Boyega Replacing Wesley Snipes As Blade

It seems the world can’t get enough of British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega. Just a few days ago, his name sprung up in the already-crowded James Bond conversation, and now he is being touted as the perfect actor to replace Wesley Snipes as Blade.

During a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session with the Star Wars actor, a fan asked if he would ever want to be in a Marvel movie, suggesting he’d be “great as Blade”. Boyega clearly agreed, calling the fan a “genius”. In response to that, an artist created a mockup of the actor as the iconic hero.

In 1998, New Line Cinema brought the daywalker to the big screen — spawning two sequels and making Wesley Snipes a bonafide movie star. The three films followed Blade, a half-human and half-vampire who protected humans from vampires.

With the rights to the character now back in the hands of Marvel Studios, fans have been asking for a reboot for quite some time, but nothing concrete has been announced. While Wesley Snipes has made it clear he doesn’t want anyone else taking the part, we doubt Marvel will let him reprise the role.

Following the incredible success of Black Panther, we don’t think it’ll take too long for the studio to dust off its other iconic black hero. Even if Boyega doesn’t get the part — Jamie Foxx is another name that has been heavily mentioned — it would be great to have Blade back in circulation.
