Listen: Burna Boy Shines On LeriQ And DJ Tunez’s ‘Cotton Candy’

Last year, prior to Burna Boy dropping Outside — his best and most celebrated body of work to date — the “Heaven’s Gate” singer blessed fans with some solid but underheard tracks and features. One effort that completely flew under the radar was his work on LeriQ and DJ Tunez‘s “Cotton Candy”.

Produced by LeriQ, “Cotton Candy” finds Burna Boy operating squarely in his dancehall comfort zone, and he absolutely kills it — which makes it even more surprising that the song never caught on.

On the track, Burna Boy sings about a passionate but messy relationship. The Bonnie and Clyde-esque picture he paints finds him and his lover ducking from cops and randomly starting fights, but he swears that their love still manages to remain “sweeter than cotton candy”.

While it’s now hard to imagine a Burna Boy song or feature not getting any attention following the outpouring of love Outside received, hidden gems like “Cotton Candy” have us wondering how many great tracks from the talented singer we might have all missed in the past.
