Olamide Goes On A Name-Dropping Spree On New Song, ‘C. Ronaldo’
To mark his 29th birthday, Olamide just announced the launch of his own TV station, which he says will “change the face of entertainment in Africa”. As if that wasn’t enough, he also just dropped a brand new single: “C. Ronaldo”.

Produced by ID Cabasa, “C. Ronaldo” is the fourth song Olamide has released this year, and the second best right after “Science Student”. Not only does “C. Ronaldo” benefit from a catchy beat — it feels a lot like his version of DJ Enimoney’s “Diet” — it’s also a lot of fun, lyrically.
On the chorus, he uses football legends, C. Ronaldo and Gabriel Batistuta as metaphors for “scoring” with a chick. Then the verses find him name-dropping celebrities he likes, knows or just ones that have names that are easy to rhyme with — from Toke Makinwa to Rihanna.
While Nigerian artists tend to scrape the bottom of the barrel when it comes to dropping songs to mark their birthday — save for Reekado Banks with the phenomenal “Like” — it’s refreshing and a little surprising that Olamide actually gave us a solid banger instead.
