Uchenna Echeazu Lands Role In Second Season Of ‘Atlanta’

It didn’t take very long into the season 2 premiere of Atlanta for us to realize that the Emmy-winning comedy hadn’t lost any of its magic. If anything, it seems set to be funnier this time around — with Darius, one of our favourite Nigerian characters of this century, getting some of his best lines ever.

So, since the show has a couple writers of Nigerian descent and its most beloved character is a first-generation Nigerian-American, it was only a matter of time before a Nigerian actor popped up. Which is where Uchenna Echeazu (aka Conphidance) comes in.

The Nigeria-born actor, filmmaker and musician, who has appeared in shows like American Gods, The Originals and Good Behaviour, is set to star alongside Donald Glover, Brian Tyree Henry and Lakeith Stanfield in the third episode of Atlanta‘s second season titled “Money Bag Shawty”.

Airing on March 15, Conphidance will be playing the owner of the strip club — in which most of the episode is set to take place. In usual Atlanta fashion, the episode’s synopsis is wonderfully vague: “Earn is making money, but he’s still broke, and the whole city runs in stunting.”

For those of you who don’t know Atlanta, it’s a comedy about two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their families. It’s easily one of the best and most innovative shows on TV today.
