Here’s The Origin Of The Funke Akindele ‘Why Are You Running?’ Clip

Even with the unfortunate but expected demise of the short-form video hosting service, Vine — its initial success was already such a surprise — a lot of the platform’s most popular six-second clips have simply refused to die along with it.

One of such clips, which seems to have inexplicably regained popularity on Twitter , is the hilarious Funke Akindele ‘Why Are You Running?’ video culled from the 2014 Tchidi Chikere comedy, Pretty Liars.

So, why exactly is she running?

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, Pretty Liars, or didn’t even know where the clip was from, you’ve come to the right place opened the right post. The movie follows two friends, Cleo (Funke Akindele) and Alice (Queen Nwokoye), who live a fake life in the city.

In the scene where the clip is from, Cleo is ambushed by one of the many men she collected money from and has refused to pay back — hence the screaming and running. According to her, she only ran because she lied to the man that she was out of the country.
