D’banj Makes A Comeback With The Video For New Single, ‘Shoulda’

Any avid D’banj and Don Jazzy fan in the late noughties will agree that we’ve never experienced a more hurtful musical fall off like D’banj’s.

D’banj released his first EP since the Mo’ Hits split, (An Epic Journey) in 2015, which definitely #cameandwent. We charged it to the game following this, but he came back two years later with another album, King Don Come which wasn’t grreeat but we could see signs of a resurrection.

Some of these signs were tracks like “El Chapo”, “Emergency” and “Shoulda“, which has just got a colourful music video. Following the heartbreaking Mo’ Hits split, neither D’banj or Don Jazzy are yet to come back to their initial glory, and this is the closest D’banj has come to it.

“Shoulda” is reminiscent of some of his old songs, like “Scapegoat” with cheeky lyrics and a catchy and repetitive chorus where he sings about being in love, and how he will carry his girl on his shoulder. D’banj also does a harmonica solo as the hook, which brings a flush of nostalgia.

We’re all for artistic growth and evolution, so we’ll welcome this new D’banj with an open mind.
