Video: This is Why She Unfollowed Bellanaija Weddings and Co On Social Media

Single women at a marriageable age sometimes feel so pressured to get married especially when they see their mates or someone younger tying the knots.

Worse is when the society reminds them that they are women and may soon get to the menopause age. At this time, such woman is stressed and desperate.

Using her life’s experience, MoChunks, a lifestyle vlogger, says even social media can be a major source of distraction.

She advised such women to be careful so as not to get carried away by what they see. According to her, she had to unfollow many pages on the internet like Bellanaija and others that could have a negative effect on her single life.

Although, these pages may not be bad but is it healthy for your mental state? MoChunks asks.

She said,

Your quest for love shouldn’t be an idol in your life in the sense that you wake up in the morning and the first thing you ask God for is to bring you your husband. You haven’t asked God to work on your character, you haven’t asked God to reveal your purpose in life, you haven’t asked God to protect your family, everything is my husband, my husband….

People don’t realize how powerful social media is. People like to play it like its nothing , like I can see all these things and it won’t affect me… As a young adult, I feel like our mind are like sponges and what we feed our soul definitely start to condition the way we think, the ideas we have about life and the way we relate with other people.

As a christian, marriage is the end goal, don’t just date to date. When you start obsessing with marriage, what I found out was that I was choking the fun out of dating, in the sense that maybe a guy would come out into my life and I had already been placing so much pressure and emphasis on marriage, not even in the things I say but in the way I act. I already started behaving like a wife even though we are still just in the early stage.

One of the things I realized in my dating journey so far and through my seasons of singleness is that men can definitely sense desperacy and when the desperacy is fuelled by social media….it sounds so silly but its real.

A lot of single women want things right now but they don’t want the process because they are accustomed to seeing these things on social media because people share their success stories. There’s so much we can say about our success story but there’s so many thing we miss out.  All these love stories, they are not going to come out and say we fought 17 times before he proposed or I caught him cheating with someone or I’m being emotionally abused. nobody is going to come out and say those things.
