Tekno Announces Upcoming EP, Teases Another Socially-Conscious Track

Since Tekno released his breakout track “Pana” — the biggest song of 2016 and a little of 2017 — the afropop star has been dropping singles left and right. While none of them have reached his defining track’s impossible heights, they’ve all been adored to some degree.

This explains why fans have been asking — nay, begging — the singer to release an album for over a year now. We all had our fingers crossed that he would release something in 2017, but the year came and went without him coming through. Now, he has finally announced that he has an EP in the works.

The news of Tekno’s upcoming EP comes on the heels of reports of an alleged collaboration with Canadian rapper, Drake, and teasers of his first single of 2018, “Anyhow”. It already seems like Tekno is set to have a really busy 2018.

While announcing the EP on Instagram, he shared a snippet of one of the tracks that will reportedly be on the EP. Taking a break from singing about women, the untitled track seems to be in the same vein as “Rara” — calling out our ineffectual government.

Although we were all hoping for an album from Tekno — and let’s be honest, that’s what we should be getting — it seems like we’ll just have to manage the EP instead. No official release date, tracklist or title has been announced yet, but we are a little excited to hear what he eventually delivers.
