Nigerians Really Want Funke Akindele & Taraji P. Henson To Be Co-Stars In A Film
Since Nigerians on Twitter noticed the striking resemblance between Jenifa’s Funke Akindele and Empire’s Taraji P. Henson, a couple years ago, they’ve been begging for someone to cast both actresses as sisters in a movie.
The viral news of Funke Akindele making an appearance in the Avengers: Infinity Wars movie — which as it turns out, might not even be true — got some fans thinking the dream of a collaboration between the two talented stars might actually be in reach.
Both actresses, while undeniably hilarious, also have serious dramatic chops – Funke shined in Maamiand Taraji scored an Oscar nod for her work in The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons – but we all know that if a movie were to ever happen, a comedy would be the only way to go.
From sisters going wild in Vegas to a Parent Trap-like comedy, Nigerians have already done a great job suggesting stories that would work. So, we are going to need a Hollywood or Nollywood producer to make this collaboration happen à la the Lupita and Rihanna movie.
