5 Nigerian Artists We Want An Album From In 2018

2017 has been an amazing year for Nigerian music with stellar releases from our fave artists such as Maleek Berry, Niniola, Simi, Falz, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Juls and loads more. The year has been a non-stop bop fest, especially given all the singles that have been released as well.

Us listening to music all year:

On that note, since this year was so good for music, we’re only expecting more and better next year. This year has seen many artists make a comeback, and also several incredible debuts. If the music this year is anything to go by, we can’t wait for next year!

Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold is undoubtedly the king of romantic highlife music in Nigeria. His music has a way of making you feel like turning up, but still be super in your feelings and that’s what we love about him. (Apart from the fact that he dresses really well of course).

We know for sure that we’re getting an album from him next year called About 30. Listen to him talk about the album right here:

Tekno

Tekno is easily one of the most talented musicians we have in the industry today. This is why we can’t believe he’s yet to release a debut album and given his amazing singles “Rara”, “Pana” and more recently “Only One” & “Greenlight”, an album is definitely highly anticipated.

There’s talk about him being signed to OVO given that he was photographed with Drake recently, so we are looking forward to what’s to come from that. In the mean time, we’ll still be jamming to his songs!

Seyi Shay

Seyi Shay’s debut album, Seyi or Shay, was a definite favourite with features from Patoranking, Wizkid, Shaydee, Iyanya, Flavour and Banky W. She’s been a bit quiet musically since, with the exception of a few sparce singles and features. “Yolo Yolo” was a fan favourite, and we’re sure people will be expecting more music from her as she’s been so quiet since.

Davido

It’s been 4/4 this year for Davido with “If”, “Fall”, “Fia” and “Like Dat” (if we act like Pere didn’t happen) with all of his single releases.

Each song he’s released this year shows his artistic growth, and he’s clearly not here to play any games with us! This is why a body of work from him will be ‘fia’, and we would really like one from him next year!

Maleek Berry

Following the well-deserved success of his brilliant EP, Last Daze of Summer, Maleek Berry announced his follow-up EP, First Daze of Winter to be released in January.

In anticipation of January’s release, Maleek recently dropped the project’s first single, “Pon My Mind”, and to absolutely no one’s surprise, it’s brilliant. If this is anything to go by (not like we need anything to hype us up for Maleek Berry music), we’re super excited for it!
