NCAT graduates 72 licensed aircraft engineers
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria on Wednesday graduated 72 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, the Rector of the College, Capt. Abdussalami Mohammed has said.
Mohammed, who said this at a combined graduation ceremony of the college in Zaria, said the engineers graduated at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.
The graduands received both academic and professionals skills to become Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
The rector, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Dauda Bajini-Yahaya, described the occasion as a unique one being the first combined graduation ceremony with such a large number of people.
“One other unique thing about this particular graduation toady is we are combining academics with professionalism and this is the first set of HND graduates we are sending out of the college.
“Let me say to all of you who have been here with us for number of years, congratulations,” the rector said.
He reminded them that their graduation marked a history in their lives in view of the fact that they were going into the industry as professionals.
“You are going into the industry not just with nothing but with the license that you are going to use to execute your jobs in the industry.
“Whenever an individual has been given a license, I want to remind you that a responsibility actually comes upon you; for somebody who holds a license, definitely he will be held accountable for anything.
“That is why we want to appeal to you that when you get in there, please exercise all the liberty and all the privileges that your license permits you to exercise,” he noted.
Mohammed cautioned the graduands not to go beyond the permission of their license, adding that “once you do what you are supposed to do, you will discover that everybody will be happy.’’
The rector said that NCAT had various courses including management courses that could enable them build a career at the managerial positions in future.
Earlier, the Head of Flying School, Malam Nasiru Gungura told the graduands that change would be inevitable as they move into life beyond NCAT.
“It is inevitable and indeed gratifying to see that this sets of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering students have matured, become skill proficient and are ready to tackle challenges in their long life career.
“So, as you face and tackle the inevitable changes, hold true to yourself, remember to hold on to your value system, your work ethnic and most importantly your humanity,” he said.
The courses included Appraisal for Airframe and Power Plant and Abridge Avionic Course among others.
