From ‘Attack The Block’ To ‘Star Wars’, John Boyega Is The Sci-Fi Hero We Deserve

In 2011, the world was introduced to the dynamic brilliance of British-Nigerian actor John Boyega in Joe Cornish’s sci-fi horror comedy film, Attack The Block – which followed a teenage street gang who have to defend themselves from alien invaders.

Unprecedented in both the sci-fi and horror genres, we got to see a black character not only survive an alien apocalypse but actually save the entire world. While the movie was not a box office hit when it was released, it has grown to become a cult classic.

The Star Wars & Pacific Rim sequels

Since that breakout role, Boyega has become a bonafide sci-fi icon. In 2015, he led one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he is now headling two of the most highly-anticipated sci-fi movies of the coming months, the Star Wars and Pacific Rim sequels.

For Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is due to hit cinemas on December 13, Boyega will reprise his role as stormtrooper-turned-hero, Finn – who brought most of the heart, humour and humanity to the acclaimed and hugely succesful first film.

For Pacific Rim Uprising, which is due to hit cinemas next year on March 23, John Boyega not only stars but produces the follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s 2014 sci-fi classic, Pacific Rim, which starred Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam.

John Boyega plays ex-Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost, son of Idris Elba’s character, the late Stacker Pentecost, who is given a chance to unite the world and fellow Jaeger pilots to prevent humanity’s extinction. We honestly can’t wait to see what this gifted 25-year-old does next.
