The Best Live Show Performances From ‘The Voice Nigeria’ Season Two

In TV, the sophomore slump refers to an instance where the second season of a show fails to live up to all the promise of its first – and The Voice Nigeria, which just wrapped its second season last night, is a perfect example of this painful trend.

While the show had been relatively disappointing for most of its sophomore run – due to a sharp drop in the quality of its singers – watching the mediocre Ebube make it to the final two was the straw that broke this camel’s back. Idyl winning didn’t help either.

So, although we didn’t enjoy this season half as much as we enjoyed the last one, we can’t deny that there were a couple of strong performances during the live shows. Anyway, in no particular order, here are a couple performances that made this season worth watching:

Syemca singing X Ambassadors’ “Unsteady”

Ifeoma singing Andra Day’s “Rise Up”

Jahtell singing Jennifer Hudson’s “And I Am Telling You”

J’Dess singing Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain”

Ebube singing Adele’s “One And Only”

Wolei singing Brymo’s “Ara”
