Meet Nigeria’s athlete turned Hollywood superstar, Moe Sasegbon The Nigerian Woman In ‘Wonder Woman

– A UK-based Nigerian athlete, Moe Sasegbon, has made her first movie debut in the blockbuster movie, Wonder Woman.

 

– The Wonder Woman superhero movie was one of the most anticipated movies of the year and after its official premiere in China on Monday, May 15, the success of the movie made the anticipation worth it

– Wonder Woman has made over $598 million worldwide, making it the sixth highest grossing movie this year In the movie, 25-year-old female athlete, Moe Sasegbon, was one of the Amazonian warriors of the Themyscira Island who were called to fight the German soldiers who invaded their home.

Like the movie she featured in, the UK-based Nigerian is a strong woman who works hard to achieve her goals and dreams. Born on September 16, 1991, Sasegbon started her career in athletics when she was just 9 years old, at age 14 she was recognized by her teacher who suggested that she joined a local athletics club in the United Kingdom.

She later joined the Sheffield University where she trained with other famous and talented athletes.

Sasegbon became Nigeria’s pro athlete in Heptathlon and high jump after she moved on to a more challenging training programme where she worked hard like the Themyscira warrior she is.

In 2013, the young athlete joined the Senior GB team, competing at an indoor pentathlon in Sheffield. In 2015, she made her first competitive debut for Nigeria at the 11th All African Games in in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.

Although Sasegbon appeared in only one scene in the Wonder Woman movie, NAIJALIFE gathered that Sasegbon is set to feature in the upcoming Justice League movie starring famous Hollywood celebrities such as, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa and many more.

In an interview, the young athlete expressed that she was inspired by her mother’s determination to be the best at what she does. “I have sports people that I admire, but I’d have to say my all-time hero is my mother. She used to be a swimmer for Nigeria who taught herself how to swim, and ultimately train herself to become one of the best swimmers in the country. I admire her determination and discipline in all she does”

With her first movie debut in a blockbuster superhero movie, Moe Sasegbon chose the best mentor anyone could ever hope for and it seems like this is just the beginning of the best to come from Nigeria’s athlete turned Hollywood superstar.
