Meet Adetomiwa Edun, The Versatile Stage, TV, Video Game & Film Actor
Last year, EA Sports released its acclaimed story mode for FIFA 17, The Journey – where you got to play as Alex Hunter, a hotshot 17-year-old with aspirations to emulate his legendary grandfather by stepping out in the Premier League.
Alex Hunter was played, vocally and in motion capture, by British-Nigerian actor, Adetomiwa Edun – a role that immediately catapulted the 33-year-old’s face (and voice) into the home of every soccer fan with a game console; which explains why he is reprising the role for FIFA 18.
An impressive TV actor
Prior to working with EA Sports, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s trained actor was best known for his roles as Sir Elyan in the British fantasy-adventure series, Merlin; Sey in the BAFTA-nominated period drama, The Hour; and Marcus Young in the Emmy-nominated horror drama, Bates Motel.

Adetomiwa also had guest appearances on other popular shows like Law & Order: UK, Lucifer, Doctor Who; and most recently, the procedural crime drama, Elementary.
A gifted stage performer
Before landing his first major TV gig, Adetomiwa made a name for himself on the British theatre circuit when he was cast to play Macbeth in a production of the eponymous play by the Royal National Theatre; earning praise from critics for being “charismatic”.
Then in 2009, Edun became the second black actor to play Romeo at the Globe Theatre when he was cast in Dominic Dromgoole’s acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet.
A blossoming film career
Adetomiwa’s first credited film role was in Kenneth Branagh’s 2015 live action adaptation of Cinderella. He also makes a small but effective appearance in BB Sasore’s hilarious 2017 supernatural comedy, Banana Island Ghost.
Later this month, you’ll be able to see him acting alongside Oscar nominees Willem Dafoe and Glenn Close in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, What Happened To Monday? (aka Seven Sisters); and this is only the beginning.
