Nigerian Social Media Rewarded This Girl For Getting All As In Her WAEC
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, Twitter is more efficient than the government and all of these tweets are proof of that.

Nigeria is not known for rewarding academic achievements. Many people with state or federal-sponsored education scholarships have been left stranded without the financial assistance typically accompanying scholarships, while we focus on ‘important’ things like oil blocks.

Cynthia Chinecherem, who could be a real life genius, got all As (nine As) in her WAEC examination; a feat which, in a working country, would mean she was entitled to some form of endowment from the government, but as usual, nothing. So Twitter did what Twitter does: a user shared Cynthia’s result, and asked people to help her get into a good university.
She made A1 in all the 9 subjects she took in WASCE. Please tell Gov. Ugwuanyi of Enugu state to send her to a very good university.
In minutes, the campaign had taken on a life of its own, and in less than a week, Cynthia had gotten cash gifts, textbooks, scholarships and mentorship offers. 31 Twitter users pledged N525,500; and 23 already made good on their pledges, remitting N425,500.
Since I couldn’t be there to present the donations, Chinecherem and her dad made and sent this video. All thanks to you wonderful people pic.twitter.com/IUmcSrbeEE
