Kwara State and Obasanjo Foundation partner for hearing impaired people

‎The Kwara State government has restated its resolve to continue to improve and meet the health needs of its people.

The state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed stated this while declaring open a two-day programme for the hearing impaired in Ilorin, packaged by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation.

Governor Ahmed, who was represented by his deputy, Elder Peter Kisira, assured them that the State government would continue to commit resources to the programme with other health interventions for the people.

He appreciated the enormous resources committed to the programme and the initiative of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation to minister to the needs of the hearing impaired which was one of the critical areas of human need.

Governor Ahmed noted that the programme would help to further put in the front burner the health programmes of the state government.

The programme is a follow up to the training received by a Kwara team, a month ago, in Abeokuta,  .

He congratulated the prospective beneficiaries and urged them to conduct themselves in an orderly manner to enable them draw maximum benefit from the programme.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Isiaka Gold said Kwara State was one of the twelve States to benefit from the project .

The Representative of Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, Dr Olalekan Makinde who enumerated some of the areas of coverage by the Foundation pledged that it would continue to collaborate with the State government to meet the health need of the people.

‎The Director of Starkey Hearing foundation, Dr Lukman Lawal, who thanked the state government for its support, stated that over eight hundred people were targeted during the exercise and called for sustainability ‎of the programme.

One of the beneficiaries, Momonu Abdulkadir Gambari commended the state government and the Foundation for its giant strides aimed at taking care of the people especially the less privileged.
