Watch The Video For Mayorkun’s Romantic New Single ‘Mama’
Following the release of “Sade” (which sounded a little too much like his hit track, “Eleko”) and a surprisingly brilliant cover of Nonso Amadi’s “Tonight”, Mayorkun finally drops his second single of the year, “Mama”; along with a sharp new music video.
If we are being totally honest, the Kiddominant-produced single sounds like someone vigorously shook a can of Davido’s “Fall” and let all the air out (yeah, it’s basically a flat version of one of the year’s best songs).
The video, which was shot by Clarence Peters, manages to be both crisp and sorely uneventful. Unlike Mayorkun’s video for “Sade”, which was also shot by Clarence at the spectacular Kajuru Castle, this video will sadly be forgotten as soon as it ends.
Let’s hope Mayorkun’s next single can justify him being named ‘Rookie Of The Year’ at the 2016 Headies – because all the goodwill “Eleko” brought him won’t last very long.
