Imoh Umoren Explores Homelessness In The Trailer For ‘Children Of Mud’
Imoh Umoren is arguably the leader of new school cinematographers in Nigeria. He has directed outstanding projects for various brands such as MTV and MTN as well as his own productions. Among other notable achievements, he made Nigeria’s first experimental film, Hard Times, in 2014. It won him his first Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) in the Best New Media-Online Video category (2015).

He’s also made three other feature films; The Happyness Limited, Lemon Green, and Have a Nice Day. Now he’s channeling his expertise into a new film, Children Of Mud.
Children Of Mud is Imoh Umoren’s fourth feature film. The film follows two children, Emem and her blind brother, Miracle, who are thrown out by their misguided aunt and become vagrant children. They meet a community of other children in the same situation and learn to help each other.

On his twitter account, Imoh Umoren said;
“My new film, Children Of Mud, is dedicated to the homeless kids who are made outcasts by their families.”
The issue of homeless children is a huge concern in Nigeria. There are hundreds, if not thousands of school-aged children who either hawk during the day or do menial labour. Children Of Mud is a film about love, hope and overcoming obstacles. Filmed primarily in Lagos and Abeokuta, the film features Liz Benson (now Liz Ameye), Matilda Obaseki, Bassey Ekpenyong, and some brilliant child actors. The trailer also features a song made especially for it by alternative folk singer, Bemyoda.
