Nigerian fabrics in high demand in South Africa, says entrepreneur

A Nigerian entrepreneur based in South Africa, Mr Solarin Ayotunde, says Nigerian fabrics and clothing materials are in high demand in that country.

Ayotunde, the Chief Executive Officer, Soldee Group, told newsmen in Pretoria on Wednesday that South Africans and other nationalities are in love with Nigerian fabrics.

“ We use Dida Clotheirs, a firm in our group for the clothing materials.

“ Ankara and Adire materials that come from Nigeria are of high quality. We can use them for a lot of things.

“ We use them for different designs for male, female and children wears. Our clients love these materials because we use them to make outfits that they like,” he said.

According to Ayotunde, Nigerians can leverage on these potentials and penetrate the South African market.

“ These materials are in high demand here (South Africa). I urge genuine entrepreneurs to make use of this opportunity to do business with them,” he said.

He said that his firm was also venturing into fabrics from other African countries and producing outfits according to the client’s specifications.

“ We do Afro-centric clothing and designs. We need to project Africa in a good way to the rest of the world.

“ It is time for Africa to give back to the rest of the world and we can do that through style and fashion.

“ The good thing is that African fabric is generally accepted. African fabric is used for shoes, fashion furniture, bags and house interiors,” he said.

Ayotunde urged Nigerian entrepreneurs to key into the potentials of African fabrics, especially ankara and adire to make money.

“ We use ankara and adire to meet the needs of our clients and I must tell you that business has been good with these materials,” Ayotunde said.
