Filmmaker, Dare Olaitan Goes From ‘Ojukokoro (Greed)’ To Ndani’s ‘Lagos Big Boy’

Whether it’s David Lynch going from the Oscar-nominated Elephant Man to the cult TV classic Twin Peaks or Steven Soderbergh trading in the critically-acclaimed Magic Mike for the criminally-underrated The Knick, a good film director will almost always make a good TV director.

And that’s exactly why we are excited for Ndani’s upcoming TV show, Lagos Big Boyhelmed by Dare Olaitan, the exciting new filmmaker who gave us the brilliant Ojukokoro (Greed).

Speaking with us about what to expect from the show, Dare said:

Lagos Big Boy is about a singer and his aim to make it big in the industry despite all the wahala Lagos typically throws at you.”

For the show, Dare will be reuniting with two stars from his feature film, the exceptional Charles Etubiebi Oke (playing “The Fixer) and the hilarious Gbolahan ‘Bollylomo’ Olatunde (playing “The Talent”).

They will both be joined by ‘ChueyChu’ Okoye (playing “The Plug”), known for those viral Pulse Nigeria prank videos; and relative newcomer Tosan Wiltshere (playing “The Best Friend”).

About what it feels like helming a TV show so soon after his first feature film, Dare continued:

“It feels pretty good. But at the end of the day, it’s still a job and you have to keep working so you can get better at your craft.”

Although we haven’t gotten an official release date or even a trailer, we are pretty pumped to see what Dare does with this material – and a chance to see Charles Etubiebi Oke act up a storm (like he did as the lead in Ojukokoro) is pretty damn exciting.
