Nigeria now has an official Twitter account
Our beloved country Nigeria has joined the likes of Canada, Israel, Ukraine, Sweden and several others in having an account on microblogging platform, Twitter.

The Twitter account, @Nigeria, popped up on 9 June 2017 with the tweet “Welcome to the Twitter handle for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Africa’s largest economy, and most populous country.”
Subsequent tweets stated the handle’s purpose, which included showcasing the country’s culture and promoting her technology and innovation.
The Twitter account currently has over twelve thousand followers and is following twelve other Twitter accounts, mostly those of other countries such as South Africa, Botswana, and Kazakhstan.
While a Twitter account isn’t the country’s most pressing issue, having a presence on the platform isn’t a bad idea at all. It shows the country is aware of the importance of the platform, and is looking to tap into it to her advantage.
