Activities resume at the Nigerian Stock Exchange – The market capitalization closed at N8.722 trillion

The Nigerian Stock Exchange,NSE, has reopened for the week on Tuesday on a negative note, after the Easter holiday which ended on Monday April 17, 2017.

The market capitalization closed at N8.722 trillion as against Thursday’s closing of N8.827 trillion, losing 105 billion or 1.19 percent.

Also, the NSE all-share index fell by 1.19 percent or 302.94 basis points to close at 25, 207.07 basis points as against Thursday’s close of 25,510.01 basis points.

Investors exchanged 2.55 million shares worth N2.45 billion in 2,854 deals.

Gainers
Out of a total of 14 stocks which appreciated for the day, the top three gainers are;

FBN HOLDINGS PLC, which has a previous closing price of N3.20 per share, gained 16 kobo or five percent to close at N3.36 per share.

Next is C & I LEASING PLC which closed at 67 kobo per share as against a previous closing price of 64 kobo per share, gaining three kobo or 4.69 percent.

While DANGOTE FLOUR MILLS PLC made a gain of 18 kobo or 4.27 percent when it closed at N4.40 per share as against a previous closing price of N4.22 per share.

Losers
Meanwhile, a total of 18 stocks depreciated after the close of Tuesday’s activities. The top three losers are;

FIDELITY BANK PLC topped the losers chart when it closed at 80 kobo per share as against a previous closing price of N1.02 per share, thereby losing eight kobo or 9.09 percent.

ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED fell by 41 kobo or five percent when it closed at N7.79 per share as against the previous closing price of N8.20 per share.

While ETERNA PLC fell by 16 kobo or 4.98 percent when it closed at N3.05 per share as against the previous closing price of N3.21 per share.

In all, out of the 177 listed stocks on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a total of 32 stocks moved, where 14 appreciated and 18 depreciated, while 145 stocks remained unchanged.
