TALENTED KID! 17yrs Old David Opateyibo Is Building Nigeria’s First Locally-Made Drone

This is David Opateyibo.

He is 17 and a student of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).

David is currently heading the development of a drone which is a high breed mix of existing drone components and locally fabricated materials. This prototype can fly for about fifteen minutes and according to the Lagos city authorities, can be used for security surveillance if developed effectively.

The drone which can currently fly for about 15 minutes can be used for a lot of things asides aerial surveillance. In an interview, David mentioned that these drones can also be used for aerial photography and videography, or for broadcasting, incidence control or pipeline and power line inspection and in agriculture, to analyse farm produce.

“Aside from using drones for aerial surveillance, you can also use them for aerial photography and videography, or for broadcasting, incidence control or pipeline and power line inspection. You can also use drones in agriculture, to analyze farm produce,” David said in an interview.
