‘No One Should Pay for Your Shows Anymore!’: Fans Slam Basketmouth for Saying Nightclubbing is a Waste of Money

Basketmouth is catching a lot of flak on Instagram right now for revealing why he never hangs out at nightclubs.

In new interview with HipTV, the iconic comedian explained that he prefers having a few drinks at home with friends than visiting a nightclub, because it is cheaper and he more comfortable.

“You go to a club. It’s crowded. You can’t dance; everybody is hitting you. Things are expensive. At the end of the day, you are actually getting stressed out just to enjoy your money,” he said. “I’ll rather stay at home.”

The father of two who has gained international recognition continued, saying he would rather call friends to come drink with him at his house. “So, the money I’ll spend on a bottle of brandy, I can use it to buy 3 at home.”

He went further to illustrate, noting a bottle of drink he says goes for N11,000 at the market but which is sold for N35,000 at a regular nightclub. “I be mumu? I be Igbo! Isu-Ikwuato Local Government of Abia State,” he said. “I’ll save my money.”

This admittance has put the comedian in a bad light with some fans. While some folks have called him out for being stingy, others have taken their irritation to a new level. “No one should pay 5k, 10k to go to his shows anymore. call ur friends to the house buy d cd and yall watch it der n enjoy yourselves. I be igbo boy oo. smh…someone let basket mouth see this @basketmouth,” an upset fan said.
