President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road in Lagos State and promised infrastructure projects across Northern Nigeria.
This, according to the President, will reinforce his administration’s commitment to boosting trade, regional connectivity, and national development.
At the ceremony, President Tinubu described transport infrastructure as the “arteries through which the lifeblood of economic development flows,” emphasising that road construction under the Renewed Hope Agenda is geared towards stimulating economic productivity, enhancing logistics, and linking key economic zones.
The inaugurated Lekki project connects the Lekki Port, one of West Africa’s most modern deep-sea terminals with hinterland transport systems, meant to ensure seamless movement of goods to and from the port.
Constructed under the Tax Credit Scheme, forms a critical component of Nigeria’s trade and logistics network, the road is expected to reduce congestion, lower the cost of goods distribution, and enhance export capacity, particularly for agricultural produce and manufactured goods.
The government notes that the project stands as a model for public-private collaboration, having been delivered through a tax credit framework that allows corporate investors to finance critical national infrastructure in return for tax rebates.
Beyond the South-West, President Tinubu used the occasion to signal the commencement of key infrastructure projects across Northern Nigeria.
They include the Kano–Kongolam Road (Section II), Kano–Kanwar–Danja–Hadejia Road), Yakasai–Zalli Road, and multiple rural access roads linking agricultural zones to urban centres.
The roads are expected to facilitate farm-to-market access, enhance food security, and integrate isolated rural communities into the broader economy.
President Tinubu said other ongoing national projects, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway, Benin–Warri Road, and several federal bridges, will receive accelerated attention in the coming months as part of a broader infrastructure blitz.
“From Lagos to Kano, Warri to Zaria, this administration is laying down a new architecture of growth,” he declared. “Our roads must reflect the scale of our ambition”.
“Whether in the North, South, East, or West, we are building roads that connect not just communities but destinies”, the President said.
He emphasised that infrastructure development was not region-specific, explaining that it is being implemented with national integration in mind.
