Nigeria to host first-ever international Civil Service conference– HOSF
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has announced plans to host a landmark two-day International Civil Service Conference aimed at enhancing the efficiency and innovation of Nigeria’s public sector workforce.
Speaking in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, led by Chairperson Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, Walson-Jack revealed that the event will take place on June 25 and 26, 2025, as part of activities marking the annual Civil Service Week.
She noted that the conference would celebrate the successful implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025) and attract over 5,000 participants from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including stakeholders from both public and private sectors.
“The conference will bring together heads of service, civil servants, and experts from around the world,” Walson-Jack said. “We’ll be focusing on knowledge sharing, innovation, networking, and showcasing achievements under the six pillars of FCSSIP: capacity building, performance management, IPPIS human resource, content services, service delivery, and networking.”
Highlighting the critical role of the media, she expressed interest in partnering with NAWOJ to ensure wide publicity for the event. “We know we cannot do it without you. Journalists help us reach the citizenry, and we count on your support,” she said.
In response to a proposal by NAWOJ for a training program for women journalists titled “Workplace Diversification: Advancing Women Journalists’ Role in the Newsroom,” the HOSF acknowledged the importance of such initiatives.
“As the agency responsible for civil servant training, we recognize the value of capacity building across sectors,” she affirmed. “We will look into your proposal and explore ways we can support it.”
Earlier, Comrade Ikpang congratulated Mrs. Walson-Jack on her historic appointment, praising her as a symbol of excellence and leadership for Nigerian women. She emphasized the need for increased collaboration to promote gender inclusion and media development.
