Nigeria, Estonia deepen economic and digital cooperation with plans to open embassies and facilitate business exchanges
Nigeria and Estonia are set to strengthen economic and technological collaboration, with plans to open embassies and facilitate business exchanges between both nations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, made this known while receiving his Estonian counterpart, Minna-Liina Lind, in Abuja.
He emphasized the need for a structured framework to enhance private-sector partnerships, particularly in technology and startups.
“Already, our private sectors are leading the way in collaboration, and we are working to ensure an enabling environment for further engagement. Beyond that, Nigeria and Estonia share similar principled positions on global issues, and we look forward to establishing diplomatic missions to deepen our relations,” he noted.
The Estonian Foreign Minister, Minna-Liina Lind, reaffirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria, highlighting Estonia’s expertise in digital governance.
“We recognize Nigeria’s vibrant startup ecosystem and the potential for deeper collaboration. Estonia, as a European Union member, also sees opportunities for broader economic cooperation,” She stated.
Both ministers discussed trade delegations, with plans for Estonian businesses to visit Nigeria.
Estonia’s ride company, Bolt, has been operating in Lagos for years, and both countries seek to expand trade and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
