FAAN unveils programme to bridge career gaps for women
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled a new mentoring programme designed to bridge career gaps for women and equip them with leadership skills.
Announcing the initiative at the International Women’s Day celebration in Lagos, FAAN’s Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, emphasized the importance of capability building and on-the-job shadowing to advance women’s careers.
She stressed the need for equal opportunities in the workplace, rejecting gender-based preferential treatment while urging women to earn their place through competence and resilience.
FAAN’s spokesperson, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, encouraged women to actively pursue their career goals, develop their skills, and build strong support networks.
Other speakers, including Prof. Anthony Kila and Dr. Toyin Magbagbeola, advised women in leadership positions to prioritize their health and personal growth.
Former Airport Manager, Mrs. Victoria Shinaba, also called on women to support and uplift each other, rather than competing against one another.
The event featured panel discussions and drama performances, with participation from aviation staff and security personnel.
