Warri Wolves triumph in Delta FA cup final
Warri Wolves Football Club has claimed victory in this year’s Delta FA Cup, edging past Sapele Lions with a 2-1 win in a thrilling final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The high-energy match, which attracted hundreds of football enthusiasts, saw both teams displaying impressive ball possession in the first half, ending in a 1-1 draw. However, Warri Wolves returned in the second half with a more tactical and determined approach, securing the winning goal and the championship title, along with a ₦1 million cash prize.
Warri Wolves captain, Innocent Orugbe, credited the team’s success to hard work and divine grace.
In the women’s category, Delta Queens FC of Asaba dominated Delta Babes FC of Warri with a 2-0 victory, claiming the title and a ₦300,000 cash reward.
Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adode, commended the teams and sponsors for their sportsmanship and praised the state government for its commitment to sports development.
The tournament concluded with the presentation of trophies, medals, and awards to the victorious teams and outstanding players.
