Nigeria’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, have officially punched their ticket to the 2025 Afrobasket Championship! After a nail-biting qualifying campaign, D’Tigers dominated the final leg held in Libya, securing their place with a clean sweep of three victories.

Following a disappointing performance in the first round of qualifiers, the team rallied in impressive fashion.
They showcased their grit and determination, defeating Libya, Uganda, and Cape Verde to claim their spot in the prestigious tournament.
The decisive victory came against Cape Verde, with D’Tigers securing a commanding 75-70 win. This cemented their qualification and sent a clear message to the rest of the continent.
According to ESPN, Nigeria’s D’ Tiger drew in the Nigerian spirit to secure the afrobasket. “They have qualified for the 2025 AfroBasket tournament after being on the brink of missing out, thanks to three wins from three in the final round of qualifying this weekend”.
