Lawmakers assure Nigerians of people oriented constitution

The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives who doubles as Chairman of the 10th House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, has assured of a people oriented constitution at the end of the exercise.

Mr. Kalu, stated this at the closing of a two-day retreat for members of the Committee in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

He expressed gratitude to the members of the Committee for their commitment towards a successful exercise and urged them to remain committed.

The Deputy Speaker explained that there may be challenges along the path of achieving a new amended constitution, but the dedication, determination and diligence of stakeholders has oiled the way.

Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Akin Rotimi said they were fully committed to ensuring that the process is inclusive, transparent, and reflective of the aspirations of all Nigerians.
