Tijjaniyyah Brotherhood conducts medical outreach for IDPs in Abuja
The International Organization of Tijjaniyyah Brotherhood (IOTB) has carried out a medical outreach and humanitarian services at the Area One IDPs camp in Abuja, providing essential health services to those displaced by crisis.
Dr. Abubakar Danraka, Chairman of the medical team, officially launched the exercise, highlighting that it forms part of the IOTB’s corporate social responsibility during their annual National conference. Dr. Danraka emphasized that the initiative aims to provide much-needed medical assistance to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and to alleviate some of their struggles.
The medical outreach included physical examinations, health consultations, and prescriptions, as well as a health talk to educate the IDPs on various health-related issues. In addition, the team distributed free sanitary pads and medicated soap to 500 IDPs, with a focus on supporting vulnerable groups such as nursing mothers, children, and the elderly.
Alhaji Ahmad Abdulyakin, representative of the National President of IOTB, encouraged the IDPs to remain hopeful and prayerful, assuring them that their plight is a source of concern for all Nigerians. He expressed solidarity with the displaced persons and underscored the importance of support from organizations like IOTB in addressing their needs.
Mrs. Liatu Ayuba, the Women Leader of the camp, expressed gratitude on behalf of the IDPs, stating that the medical outreach would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the displaced families. The intervention is seen as a vital contribution to improving the health and well-being of the IDPs, who often face significant challenges in accessing healthcare.
This humanitarian gesture by IOTB underscores the organization’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations and supporting displaced communities in Nigeria.
