CAF Awards: Tinubu congratulates Ademola Lookman

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman for being crowned the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year.

The President also applauded Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the prestigious CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award and celebrated the Super Falcons for clinching the Women’s National Team of the Year title.

The awards were announced on Monday night at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, recognizing Nigeria’s exceptional contributions to African football.

In a statement, President Tinubu joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating these outstanding athletes, praising them as exemplary ambassadors who continue to elevate the country’s name on the continental and global stages.

The President expressed his confidence that these achievements, recognized by Africa’s highest football authority, will serve as inspiration for upcoming athletes to pursue their dreams with determination and passion.

“These remarkable athletes embody the indomitable Nigerian spirit, showcasing the very best of our nation to the world,” President Tinubu remarked. “They remind us that no challenge is insurmountable, and Nigeria will always rise to shine. Let no one ever write us off.”

The President further emphasized the role of discipline, hard work, and confidence in achieving success, aligning these qualities with his administration’s commitment to building a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive.

“I am immensely proud of these champions,” President Tinubu added. “Thank you for making Nigeria proud, for flying our flag high, and for bringing medals and honors to our nation. This is only the beginning—greater victories lie ahead.”

The Atalanta forward saw off competition from Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.

Lookman is the second consecutive Nigerian to claim the award after Victor Osimhen in 2023.
