Women Enterprise Alliance NGO Unveils 5-Year Plan to Empower Women Entrepreneurs in Nigeria
Women Enterprise Alliance, WenA, an organisation for women’s economic empowerment, has launched a 5-year strategic plan aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond.
In her keynote address, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Matthews, MD/CEO of WenA, emphasised the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and development.
“As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we are committed to creating a supportive ecosystem that fosters growth, nurtures creativity, and drives economic empowerment,” Matthews said.
The founder of WenA, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Babangida, also spoke at the event, highlighting the need for collective action in driving economic growth and development.
“We mean business, and we are committed to creating a supportive ecosystem that fosters growth, nurtures creativity, and drives economic empowerment,” Babangida said.
As part of its strategic plan, WenA has committed to providing mentorship and training programs for women entrepreneurs, with a focus on building their capacity to grow and sustain their businesses.
The organisation aims to mentor and train 5,000 women entrepreneurs over the next five years, connecting them with seasoned professionals and industry experts who can provide guidance and support.
WenA’s capacity building initiatives are designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in business.
The organisation will provide training and capacity building programs in areas such as business management, marketing, finance, and technology.
WenA will also provide access to resources and tools, such as business planning templates, market research reports, and financial management software.
The organisation aims to empower 1,000 SMEs annually, with a focus on women-led businesses.
“WenA will provide a range of support services, including mentorship, training, and access to finance, markets, and networks.”
Also, the organisation will advocate for policy reforms that support the growth and development of SMEs, particularly those led by women.
In her remarks, Mrs. Florence Onwumere, Programs Director at WenA, emphasised the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and development.
“WenA is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering a more inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Onwumere said.
The launch of the 5-year strategic plan marks a new era for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria and beyond.
WenA also launched the We Mean Business Coalition, an initiative aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.
The coalition, which is driven by WenA, seeks to address the most pressing challenges faced by local entrepreneurs and create a future where Nigerian entrepreneurs thrive locally and globally.
