National Youth Festival: Team Edo makes podium finish, places third
Team Edo had their heads held high at the end of the National Youth Festival as they placed third with a total of 62 medals made up of 19 gold, 15 silver and 28 bronze medals
The team with their red and white traditional colours stood in the 3rd position on the podium and received the third best team award and honour during the closing ceremony of the event at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The Edo contingent concluded their participation in the 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with an outstanding performance, as their athletics team won the Gold medal in the 400x100M mixed relay. The girls also won Bronze in the 400×400 relay to end the youth games on high.
In wrestling, Edo won silver in female event on the final day. they also won kickboxing Silver in women 37 Kg category and Bronze in 55kg.
In the final medal table released by the local organizing committee on Thursday,team Delta emerged champions for the third consecutive time with a total of 111 medals;46 Gold,31 Silver and 34 Bronze Medals.
Lagos came second with a total of 65 medals made up of 26 Gold, 20 Silver and 19 Bronze.
Bayelsa,Kwara and Ogun came fourth, fifth and sixt respectively.
Team Ebonyi State is the only side that participated in the competition without any medals to show for their efforts.
