2024 Paralympic: Nigeria wins bronze in tennis

Isau Ogunkunle has secured a bronze medal for Team Nigeria in the men’s para-table tennis event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, contributing to the country’s growing medal tally.

Ogunkunle advanced to the semi-finals but was defeated 3-1 by world number two, Young-Gun Kim of South Korea.

Despite an early lead by winning the first set, Ogunkunle eventually lost with 11-9, 5-11, 4-11, and 11-13.

He came close to forcing a decisive fifth set after taking the fourth set to a tie-break.

In para-table tennis, both losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals without the need for an additional match.

With Ogunkunle’s performance, Team Nigeria’s overall medal count now stands at five—one gold, two silver, and two bronze.
