Abaji U-17 semifinalists decided after thrilling quarterfinal matches for the 2024 Abaji Football Council Under-17 Vacation Tournament
The semifinal lineup for the 2024 Abaji Football Council Under-17 Vacation Tournament is now complete following the conclusion of the remaining two quarterfinal matches.
Kamsa FC of Naharati secured their spot in the semifinals with a narrow 6-5 penalty shootout victory over Amicable FC Sabon Tasha, after a goalless draw in regulation time at the Government Science Secondary School, Abaji playground.
In the fourth and final quarterfinal, also held at the same venue, Chikason FC of Road Safety Quarters edged out Dream Team FC of Old Market Street with a 2-1 win. Victor Elia put Chikason FC ahead, and despite a penalty equalizer from Haruna Isah in the 79th minute, Salisu Ibrahim restored Chikason FC’s lead just five minutes from time. The match ended on a tense note as Dream Team FC’s Alhassan Abdulsalam received a late red card, leaving his team to finish with ten men.
Earlier on Sunday, Emirates FC of Road Safety Quarters delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Adham FC to advance to the semifinals. Future Planners of Sabon Tasha also booked their place in the last four with a 2-0 win against Mega Stars of Angwan Gbakhe.
This year’s Under-17 tournament is dedicated to Coach Haruna Usman Ilerika, former Head Coach of Nigeria’s Under-15 Boys team, the Future Eagles, in recognition of his significant contributions to grassroots football development.
