‘I want to leave’- Osimhen tells Napoli

Napoli’s sporting director, Cristiano Manna, has revealed that star forward Victor Osimhen has expressed a desire to leave the club amid ongoing transfer discussions regarding the Nigerian player.

The 25-year-old, who was recently named African Footballer of the Year, has been the subject of significant speculation in recent weeks. Although he signed a contract extension with Napoli that includes a substantial £110 million release clause, Osimhen has reportedly indicated his intention to part ways with the Serie A club.

Victor Osimhen has officially expressed his desire to leave Napoli, stating, “I want to leave.” This request comes amid a backdrop of tension following a social media controversy involving the club that left him feeling betrayed. Despite his significant contributions, including leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in over three decades, the relationship between Osimhen and the club has soured. With his contract expiring in 2025 and no renewal in sight, he is now seeking opportunities elsewhere, with Chelsea being a primary contender for his signature.

While there were rumours of a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, those discussions have since stalled, as the French side is no longer in the market for a new striker.

With the transfer window nearing its end and no clear resolution in sight, Osimhen’s future at Napoli remains uncertain.

‘Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club. He wants to go,’ Manna said according to a post from Fabrizio Romano.

‘The situation is clear, there were already chances for his exit last summer, Victor wants to leave.’

‘We will see in the next 20 days,’ the Napoli director concluded, hinting that Osimhen’s future could be resolved in the coming weeks.
