Emmanuel Amuneke takes Golden Eaglets winning magic to Tanzania

Coach Emmanuel Amuneke will be expected to bring the magic wand that helped the Golden Eaglets win the 2015 U17 World Cup after he begun scouting for fresh talents for Tanzania U17s ahead of next year’s U17 AFCON to be staged by the country.

Amuneke has already led Tanzania to within a win away from their first AFCON qualification in 38 years.

And now the former African Player of the Year has said he is leading a scouting mission across Tanzania to bolster the country’s U17 squad.

“We’re going to the different regions to look for players for the U17 team”, the former FC Barcelona and Zamalek of Egypt winger reported.

“Tanzania is a large country, geographically and population wise.

“So we have decided to shift attention to the U17 team now that we still have some time before the Taifa Stars last (AFCON qualifier) match against Uganda.

“So, as we speak, we are about travelling to another region on talent hunt.

“Such trip will take us to virtually all the regions so that we can take a look at every player available.

“It is not as if the team on ground is not good, but we want to ensure we have all the best legs available, give them chance and see if they could do better than what we presently have.

“By so doing, we believe we can present a decent team in the tournament next April.”
