Amaju Pinnick: Sponsors, state governments to honour Super Falcons

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has assured Super Falcons that their heroic feat at just concluded AWCON in Ghana won’t go unnoticed as several sponsors and state governments have lined up to host the team.

Pinnick alongside NFF General Secretary Sanusi Mohammed and Head of Female Football Ruth David visited the players at their Starview Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday, while assuring them their efforts will be rewarded.

The first CAF vice president, however, said everything would happen after President of Federal Republic Of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari host the team.

“Already our sponsors are lining up to host and honour you for your achievement, as some State Governors who have indicated their interest in hosting you, but all that will be after the President hosts you,” he stated.

 

“I want to congratulate and also thank you once again for what you did on Saturday, making us all proud. You see, you displayed the quintessential Nigerian Spirit. You showed that the Nigerian flag strengthened you and that is why, even during the extra time, you were not tired.”

The former Delta State FA Chief promised that the Federation will do everything possible to support the programme of Super Falcons’ Coach Thomas Dennerby to ensure that the team does well at the 2019 World Cup in France.

“We are already working with the coach who has submitted his plans for the World Cup to us. Also, I am talking to some European Federation presidents and the President of European Union Football Association, Aleksander Ceferin to secure friendly matches for the team in preparation for the World Cup”. He concluded.

The Super Falcons defeated South Africa to win their record 9th AWCON title and also qualified for the next year Women’s world cup.
