Mikel Obi’s World Cup Jersey Added To FIFA Museum Collection

Although Russia 2018 ended months ago, Nigeria’s appearance is still being celebrated. Recently, fans voted Ahmed Musa’s brace against Iceland as their favourite memory from Volgograd, and, now, the jersey Mikel Obi wore in that game has been added to the FIFA World Football Museum collection.

You will recall that Russia 2018 was Iceland’s World Cup debut. Argentina couldn’t claim three points against the newcomers, but Nigeria did. To remember the Super Eagles as the first team to beat Iceland in the World Cup, FIFA decided to add the captain’s jersey to the museum’s collection.

We have a feeling that Nike’s mind-blowing touch to the kit somehow influenced FIFA’s decision. Easily the team with the most stylish kit at the tournament, Nigeria stole the hearts of football fans across the world.

In May, the fly kit hit a record three million pre-orders, and when it was eventually released, it sold out in minutes. So, who says this beloved merch doesn’t deserve a place among the over 1,000 football-related objects in the museum?
