A few days ago, we reported that Genevieve Nnaji’s directorial debut, Lionheart has been selected to have its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Now, we finally have a trailer for the highly anticipated film, and it looks incredible.
Lionheart will follow the competent but perennially overlooked Adaeze (played by Nnaji), who, in order to save her father’s (Pete Edochie) ailing bus company, must find a way to work alongside her feckless uncle, Godswill (Nkem Owoh).
Speaking about the film in a press release, Nnaji said:
“’Lionheart’ is the beginning of a journey to explore and express my creative interpretation of story-telling, particularly African stories.
Africa is a possessor of the most compelling stories as yet untold, and we are determined to tell our stories, our way, through our voices, to the world.”
One of the most star-studded Nollywood films of the year, Nnaji, Edochie and Owoh will be joined by other veterans like Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu, Onyeka Onwenu, Kanyayo O. Kanayo, Steve Eboh, Chika Okpala and many more.
No official Nigerian release date has been announced, but you can watch the trailer below.
