Simi Over Delivers On DJ Spinall’s ‘Don’t Let Me Go’

Since Nigerians hardly ever settle down to listen to an entire album — even from artists that they claim to love — a lot of great tracks that don’t get released as singles end up never being heard.

A great example of a gem hidden within an album that not a lot of people seem to have listened to is DJ Spinall’s Simi-assisted track, “Don’t Let Me Go” — off his impressive, star-studded third LP, Dreams.

On the Killertunes-produced “Don’t Let Me Go”, DJ Spinall enlists Simi to do what she does best: create a catchy and wholly relatable song. Like on her hit track, “Joromi”, “Don’t Let Me Go” finds Simi singing about making the first move on a guy she finds attractive.

On the infectious song, she boldly hits on the handsome, rich-looking stranger she spots at a party, promising him that she isn’t after his cash (“Me, I don’t want your money oh/Cos I got my own”), she only wants them to dance all night.

With the back-to-back success of DJ Spinall’s 2018 releases, the Wizkid-helmed “Nowo” and Kiss Daniel’s best feature yet, “Baba”, we doubt Dreams is still on his mind, but the project certainly deserves to be jammed by anyone who didn’t get the chance last year.
