Calabar Ports win NIPOSA football event
The Calabar Ports on Friday defeated the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Headquarters Lagos to win the football event of the 2018 Nigerian Ports Authority Sports Association (NIPOSA) Games.
The hosts won 5-3 after a penalty kicks shootout, following a 2-2 draw in regulation time of the final match.
The football match, which marked the end of the three-day event, lived up to its billing as the two teams displayed good skills.
The headquarters team began the game well, but were wasteful in front of goal for the first half to end goalless.
In the second half, the two teams scored two goals each for a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes of play to push the match into a penalty shoot-out.
Calabar Ports team converted three penalty kicks out of five while the headquarters’ team scored two of their penalty kicks for an aggregate score of 5-3.
